About Me
About Me
I founded Utu Consulting to help mission-driven organizations build stronger, more effective workplaces. Grounded in the Swahili philosophy of Utu, my approach is research-informed, human-centered, and practical by design. I partner with leaders on the people and organizational challenges that shape how work gets done—from organizational structure and role clarity to performance, leadership, and people strategy.
I bring over 15 years of experience in organizational development and applied HR practice within nonprofit and mission-driven organizations. Much of my work has focused on strengthening people, systems, and HR capacity in environments where resources are limited or evolving. I partner closely with leaders to introduce structure, clarify roles, and design people practices that are both practical and sustainable.

In addition to interim leadership and advisory work, I provide structured one-on-one coaching for leaders navigating complexity, transition, and authority. This work draws on my training in counseling and organizational psychology, integrating behavioral insight with systems thinking to support clear, grounded decision-making.
Over the past 15 years, I have held leadership roles across human resources, organizational development, and executive search, partnering with nonprofit and mission-driven organizations through periods of growth, transition, and change. These experiences continue to shape my pragmatic, systems-oriented approach to advisory, interim leadership, and coaching.
My education includes a BA in International Business, an MBA, an MA in Mental Health Counseling, and graduate coursework in organizational psychology. I am also a Licensed Associate Counselor (LAC).My work is informed by organizational psychology, behavioral research, and practical experience, with an emphasis on thoughtful analysis, practical application, and human-centered decision-making.
While I currently call New Jersey home, I am a proud Mswahili from Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. My personal and professional path continues to shape how I understand leadership, systems, and shared responsibility.
